Music Philosophy 101: Music has been around for as long as man has. Have you ever wondered what a song is? A song is usually a story or message set to music. Music has been at the center of human socialization, for as long as people have been socializing. Music congers up memories and thoughts, it triggers our feelings and emotions, it can make us sad, glad, happy, or it can encapsulate feelings of love and tenderness or anger and political discord. Like most anything else it depends on how it is used and what it is used for.
As with everything else in the world, music must comply with physics. Regardless of which entertainment company you hire, these rules can not be changed, sort of like the rule of gravity. In the instance of music only so many songs can be played in any given time period regardless of who is playing it. The average is between 15 & 20 songs per hour, depending on the specific lengths of the songs.
There is a science to music. Knowledge of that science is the element that separates entertainers. People rarely dance to music that they are unfamiliar with, medium tempo music confuses people more often than not, half the dance floor is waltzing the other half are dancing as fast as they dare and both sides of the dance floor are looking at the other and wondering who has it wrong. Some music is for listening to. Radio stations do not program their station to make people dance; they do so to get them to listen. Conversely, and generally, when people hire an entertainer at a function it is not for the listening type music {with the exception of social hour and/or dinner music} it is to get their guests to dance!
Trust The Entertainer uses a laptop computer and external hardrive for those occasional requests or dedications, and we maintain a complete backup of all our key music and our extensive music library. While computers used to play music is not a bad thing, the sound quality is superb, and a large library can be held on a single hard drive, do not let the numbers fool you! It makes little difference how many songs a Dj or entertainment company brings to your event, they will bring those songs with them, and take those same songs back home and you will hear few, if any of the enormous number of songs they have available.
I have been a collector of music all my life and to this day have a huge collection of vinyl albums, 45 rpm records and thousands of compact discs that have been recorded onto a computer, and reduced to .Mp3 format for storage. We may not have every song ever recorded, but we do possess complete artist discographies {a discography is usually an entire collection of every album and song ever put out by any specific artist} numbered in the thousands, spanning seven or eight decades. It would be easy for us to impress you with the number of individual songs that is, but as I said numbers and amounts of music are not important.

Do we still have input on the music for our reception?
Absolutely! With the right balance of the music philosophy we use, your input on our music forms and through prior consultations, we create a personal touch to your event, you can trust.
Do you take requests?
Absolutely! We will do requests and even personal dedications as time allows, with your permission. To allow the Entertainer the maximum ability to concentrate on the music flow for your event we provide request lists and dedication forms. We have an employee (included at no extra fee) to assist the entertainer with duties such as checking these lists and other minor tasks that will enhance your reception.
